Duties and responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate, advise on and regulate employment relations management.
• Keep abreast of labour legislation and advise management on appropriate actions to implement and manage changes in legislation.
• Act as advisor for the Employment Equity Committee with reference to labour matters.
• Monitor the employee relations climate on the campus and advise management in this regard.
• Manage operational employment relations.
• Act as a facilitator during grievance and disciplinary hearings to monitor procedural fairness, substantive fairness and consistency with regard to determining corrective actions.
• Work closely with unions with regard to employee matters and act as mediator between management and the unions.
• Maintain collective agreements with the unions.
• Represent management during dispute resolution procedures (e.g., CCMA).

Inherent requirements:
• Honours’ degree on NQF level 8 or equivalent qualification in Labour Relations or a related discipline.
• Eight (8) years of extensive appropriate experience in employment relations as described in the above-mentioned duties, of which three (3) years should be in a managerial capacity.
• Senior experience in dealing with employee relations matters at the CCMA.
Recommendations:
• A combination of work experience in both the higher education and private sectors.
• Experience in other Human Resources disciplines.
• Senior experience in dealing with employment relations matters at the Labour Court.
