Job Advert Summary
Responsible for project coordination and communication on all aspects of innovation, research and development initiatives and projects to both internal and external customers in line with Rand Water’s strategic objectives. The Innovation Coordinator will be instrumental in facilitating the process of idea generation, evaluation of new ideas and solutions, developing key relationships with internal staff as well as external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications Required:

• A University degree in a related field.
• Project Management Qualification (Diploma or Degree)
• Experienced with SAP system
• 2-5 years’ experience in the water sector/Project Management environment
• Proven record of working on Innovation related projects

Desired qualifications are:
• 2-5 years’ experience in the engineering field and or scientific field, mainly in water treatment, wastewater, energy and chemical industry.
• Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Innovation Management
• Computer competent in Project Management software (Advanced Level of SAP Project Systems, Enterprise Project Management Tools and MS Excel)
• Budget coordination and management
• Knowledge of Agile Project Management Methodologies
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex projects that are strategic in nature and national scope.

Experience required:

Primary Duties
• Coordinating all aspects of the innovation programs within the Innovation Division;
• Project planning of key deliverables and milestones are developed to determine the project steps,
beneficiaries, timeframes, quality standards and budget.
• Manage and coordinate the scheduling of allocated staff and resources as well as assessment of
the Innovation Divisions ability to effectively execute its responsibilities for both internal and external
projects.
• Accountable for the creation, implementation and supervision of Innovation Profiling initiatives within
Rand Water.
• Accountable to the management and execution of rolling out Innovation related change
management initiatives that will encourage participation in innovative activities.
• Facilitate and manage innovation related change management interventions
• Work in collaboration with Rand Water appointed Professorial Chairs and research partners (e.g.,
DSI, CSIR, etc.).
• Build and maintain healthy stakeholder relationships with internal and external business partners.
• Project planning and management of key deliverables and milestones.
• Develop and determine project steps, beneficiaries, timeframes, quality standards and budget.
• Lead the coordination of bringing immature solutions to appropriate level of readiness, through
stage gate modelling and business development implementation.
• Lead the preparation of innovation proposals for consideration by Innovation Consultant, Innovation
Manger as well as the Innovation and Piloting Oversight Committee.
• Creating a culture of innovation through effective communication and profiling of innovation projects
and case studies.
• Managing communications with all stakeholders as well as third party contributions to the
Programmes (including minute taking at meetings).
• Accountable for creating a culture of innovation through effective communication and profiling of
innovation projects, activation campaigns, workshops case studies.

• Defining and monitoring the projects governance arrangement.
• Participate in tender processes i.e., scope descriptions, submission and review.
• Planning, designing and managing the projects and proactively monitoring overall progress,
resolving issues and initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in
the Project is identified.
• Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and Programmes.
• Chair and attend project related meetings including certain critical project meetings that may have a
huge impact to the performance of the overall Programme.
• Manage the screening, prioritization, and scheduling of projects in consultation with various stakeholders.
• Optimizing and improving processes and the overall approach where necessary.
• Responsible for devising project budgets, budget tracking and reporting on project budget progress
• Decision Limits (Accountability) in line with delegated authority, for authorisation of work and procurement of goods and services.
• Ensure to exercise decision-making and independent judgment while being aligned with customers and management.
• Line reporting to the Innovation Manager.
• Contributes to the review and development of project management processes and systems in line with best practice; and
• Intellectual Property Management

Knowledge
• Computer competent in Project Management software (Advanced Level of SAP Project Systems, Enterprise Project Management Tools and MS Excel)

• Have a solid understanding of the project life cycle

• Document business requirements
