Minimum requirements for the role: 

  • Minimum Matric is essential.
  • Relevant qualification advantageous.
  • 1 – 3 years’ previous working experience within a similar role.

  • Have a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles.
  • The ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Have effective verbal, written and listening communications skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerised accounting.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • High level of attention to detail.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring invoices are matched against requisitions, purchase orders and goods received notes with reference to quantities, quality, description and price.
  • Ensuring requisitions, purchase orders and invoices are properly authorized and are in accordance with the appropriate levels of authority.
  • Ensuring the correct GL account and vendor account is utilised when processing invoices in Accounts Payable module.
  • Ensuring that the correct VAT is applied to invoices.
  • Ensuring AP batches are posted daily.
  • Preparing and submitting of creditors’ reconciliations.
  • Timeous payment of invoices, ensuring discount claimed where applicable.
  • Timeous follow up on all AP queries.
  • Forwarding remittance advices to suppliers after completion of payment run (upon request).
  • Filing all invoices after payment run according to the agreed filing protocols.
  • Preparing monthly analysis of the creditors list.
  • Maintaining vendor master listing including new Credit Applications.
  • Assisting with balance sheet recons during the month and the finalisation at month end.
  • Ensuring audit deliverables are maintained according to the standard required by the auditors.
  • Attending to any ad-hoc duties which are assigned.
