MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 R425 Degree / Diploma in General Nursing as General Nursing.
 Proof of South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
 Proof of current registration with SANC (2022 receipt) as a Professional nurse.
 A post basic nursing qualification with duration of a least 1 year Advance Midwifery and
Neonatal Care.
 A minimum of 09 years appropriate/ recognizable experience after registration as a
Professional Nurse and Midwife in hospital environment.
 At least five (05) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable
experience in maternity.
 Certificate of service of previous / current employer endorsed by HR.
RECOMMENDATION
 Degree/Diploma in Nursing Management/Administration
 Valid code 8 or 10 driver’s license
 Computer literacy
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING & COMPETENCE REQUIRED
 Knowledge of SANC rules and regulations.
 Knowledge and experience of Public Service Acts and Regulations.
 Knowledge of code of conduct and Labour relations.
 Sound working knowledge of nursing management.
 Good human relations, communications skills (written or verbal) leadership, problem solving
skills, problem solving, team building decisions making and conflict management.
 Computer literacy and information management.
 Ability to functions well within the team.
 Organization and supervision skills.
 Knowledge of Batho Pele and Patients’ Rights.
 Ability to develop standard operating procedure for maternity ward.
 Basic financial skills.
GROWING KWAZULU-NATAL TOGETHER
OPERATIONAL MANAGER SPECIALTY (MATERNITY)
 Knowledge of human resource management policies and practise including recruitment,
condition of service, performance and development ,labour relations including disciplinary,
grievance and abscondment procedure.
KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS (KRAs)
 Participation in development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures and
guidelines for IMCI and other related programs, /project
 Basic understanding and knowledge of HR and financial policies
 Maintain client satisfaction, through quality service, innovation and nursing care by upholding
relevant principles. Implement staff development and performance by implementing EPMDS
and other related human resource policies. Administer Clinic Treatment to acute patient and
make appropriate referrals
 Monitor infection control measures within the unit
 Ensure implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all programs
 Plan and monitor the use of budget for the unit
 Improve quality care through reduction of public complaints and waiting times
 Ensure perinatal meeting run efficiently and effectively
 Ability to present PIPP and CHIPP program
 Monitor and evaluate maternity and perinatal statistics. Oversee all aspect related to mother
and child (CTOP, ESMOE, FP, MBFI, CARMMA and HBB).Assist with coverage in the
nursing component. Ability to do presentation at District level
 Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development
 Maintain the code of conduct: Public Services and Professional Body.
 Ability to plan and organize own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing
care
 Ensure effective and effective utilization of resources
 Ability to do presentation as District Perinatal meeting
 Ensure quality nursing care through best practices
 Ability to apply management principles for smooth running of the unit
