The CSIR has vacancy for a Principal Enterprise Development Specialist in the Manufacturing Cluster within the Advanced Production and Security Division. The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of the full offerings and overall responsibility for the execution of a portfolio of projects and reporting to clients. The position based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

Management and implementation of individual and a portfolio of projects

Development of project proposals;
Preparation and management of project budgets;
Ensure achievement of project milestones, objectives, and goals;
Submit project reports to Industry Connect (IC) Management and directly to clients and stakeholders where relevant:
Progress;
Deviations;
Proposed Amendments;
Final reports and business plans;
Mentor project staff;
Ensuring compliance with Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and CSIR policy, procedures, and process;
Provide inputs into industry connect strategy through Programme Manager.
Establish and maintain project-level stakeholder linkages

Manage and maintain day to day relationships with client representatives and project stakeholders and representatives;
Submission of progress reports to clients.
Supervision of and own involvement in the following project activities

Development and implementation of work plans;
Conducting of feasibility studies Preparation of business plans;
Creation and development of enterprises and industry;
Transferring of technologies.
Establishment of enterprise and industry support programmes Conducting socio-economic and industry sector studies;
Ensuring the sustainability and financial viability of enterprises Develop and implement business systems in projects.
Qualifications, skills and experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics or mechanical engineering with at least ten years’ experience in enterprise development or technology transfer;
During the above ten years’ experience, at least five years’ should be in project management or coordination;
Ability to lead innovation and technology adoption in the manufacturing industry;
Ability to innovate and generate new knowledge and understanding of technological requirements;
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team;
Problem-solving and solution-seeking orientation;
Financial / Business acumen;
Good negotiation skills;
Good interpersonal and team skills;
Applied research skills;
Excellent English communication, presentation and writing skills, including the publication of technical outputs.
All international qualifications require an evaluation report / certificate issued by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
