We have an exciting position for a Business Improvement Advisor to provide support to the sustainability and effective application of the Anglo American Operating Model.

Platinum

Our Platinum business mines, processes and refines the entire range of platinum group metals (PGMs): platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium. We are the world’s leading primary producer of PGMs, which have a range of specialised applications that improve lives across the world, from vehicle fuel cells to jewellery; dentistry to glassmaking; pacemakers to petroleum refining. 

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Collect and summarize the specific risks within a working area and implement plans/system to avoid these risks
• Assist to execute delegated model construction and running activities as required during the Operational Planning process
• Facilitate process for identification of improvement levers (design, strategy, execution, resourcing) to close the gap between current and target performance distribution
• Facilitate the process of identification, prioritization and implementation of improvement projects, based on sound BI principles such as ‘ Theory of Constraints’, ‘Value stream mapping’, and approved methodologies, such as the A&I process, time studies, etc.
• Facilitate identification of improvement opportunities to close the gap between OMS output and required operational performance through use of OM tools
• Ensure a structured process is followed for definition of Measures for a site or department
• Impact management for changes, decisions or outcomes
• Drive delivery of sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time
• Implement management processes for employee & contractor management within work area
• Manage compliance of the teams within work area with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance
• Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities

This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Business Improvement Manager.

• B-Tech or Bachelor’s degree (Mining, Industrial or Metallurgy)
• Six Sigma Black Belt
• Project Management qualification advantageous

Experience

• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated understanding of Project management fundamentals
• Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance
• Valid Driver’s license
